SOURCE: OneStream Champions I have a cubeview in onestream. If I launch one of them via the api it runs in 45 seconds. If I start two of them at the same time, they both finish in about 1:20 (a little over a minute, which is almost double the 45 seconds). https://discourse-static.influitive.net/uploads/db_8467a788_7b9e_45b8_8b6c_d37e1967220d/original/1X/fdaa8e3ec877c251814ffe035f4895e65ba2dbc7.png image.png2140×180 24.7 KB What is the reason for the extra amount of time that is spent per report when two are running concurrently? IE. what internal resource is being protected against concurrency? From a technical standpoint, it seems very unexpected that two readers would block each other in this way. You can see in the screenshot that there is plenty of CPU available. I’m assuming this topic isn’t specific to our environment or to this cubeview. Nothing we are doing seems exceptional or unusual in any way.
Hi, I am working on a huge report (via Cubeview) with over 3 million rows with data, and i am unable to export to Excel nor PDF. Error message siad that the maximum row allowed is 1 million rows. Does anybody have an idea to increase the number of rows please? Thank you very much Khanh
Hello & Happy Friday. How do I over-ride a cube view cell amount? For example: IF an account (for e.g. Fleet Revenue %) is less than a certain number (for e.g. 45%), then run a custom calculation in all those cell. Else, show the original number. The excel-sheet uses an IF statement as shown below. I'm thinking that I have to write a BR (with nested IF) to run this. Will be great if there is a existing BR or method somewhere else, that I can reference. Any ideas/suggestions will be appreciated. Thank you!
On a couple occasions the users of the OneStream Add-in have unintentionally reported partial results from a onestream cube. This has happened when data extends beyond the allowable page size ("Maximum Number of Rows"). It can sometimes come up by surprise. For example, a user may pull in all the YTD activity from a cube and it will fit within the page size for much of the year but towards the end of the year some of the data will go missing. If the Onestream data is retrieved on one of several sheets, and the data is used indirectly for calculations that are displayed elsewhere in the workbook, then the problem can be easy to miss. In fact, this type of a problem can even be overlooked when you are staring right at the add-in itself, since the only indication of a problem is way down at the bottom of the results. That is where you can see the "Page 1" annotation (see image below) This brings me to my question. Is there a
I'm having trouble figuring out how to organize the layout of my cubeview. I'd like a tabular layout where dimension levels will occupy their own columns. Below is an example where I am retrieving data from my cube by week. But I want to display the parent month and quarter in their own columns, next to the weeks. I am able to build the layout shown in the first image above. This is accomplished using TreeDescendants for the year. But I can't find a way to organize my quickview in a tabular layout (see the second image). Any help would be much appreciated! Sorry for the basic question. (I haven't yet found a good source of training material for Excel quickviews.)
Hi All, Happy Friday, I am building a form and in my cube view I am giving option of selecting Entity, Based on entity I need to show two Dimensions in the detail, we don't have any connection between these dimension. I can not update the Text field of entity because there are many to many relationship, One entity can have multiple project and ICP, so based on selected entity I need to show all related projects and ICPs so user can adjust the data. Selection - Entity Projects - ICP $$$$
Hi All, How do I make my Cube View display prior2 year (2020), but only the last six months. Any suggestions will be appreciated. Thank you!
How do I make the entity column to align left? Excel has it's own formatting, but it changes back every time I refresh my workbook. I'm using an excel-add-in. Wondering if there is any alignment setting, that could be changed in OneStream. Any ideas? Thank you!
Hi, We are storing project plan data in a custom table in OneStream and loaded the data into a cube. We are having a requirement that a single project may last 2 to 3 years and if the user wants to see the project plan of a particular project from the start date till the current year, how to get it in a cubeview. Thanks & Regards, Madesh K
Hi, We have built a cubeview in OneStream. Now we are having a requirement to get input/comment from user and store it back in OneStream. Is there any KB article or something to refer? Please suggest how to achieve this. Thanks & Regards, Madesh K
Is there a best practice to get the report headers to be a consistent size regardless of the Rows and Columns in the report? We have the Standard Reports under Application Properties setup to drive consistency, however it appears the columns/rows formatting of a particular report is driving the size of the report header. In the example image, we have identical report headers with different column sets. The top report has more columns which is resulting in a smaller report header. It seems that should not be impacted by anything within the actual body of the report. Second report formatting question: Is this functionality available? The answer says it was expected back in 2020, but I can't seem to find where this feature would be. Question: Are there any updates on merge and cent... - OneStream Community (onestreamsoftware.com) Thank you, Aric Gresko OneStream Administrator | EverCommerce
Hi, I have two question in one:1. I'm trying to add a variance column in a Pivot in BI Viewer for amounts that are split by 2 scenario's, actuals and budget. What is the most practical way to do this? I thought I would add a variance in my cube view used in the cube view md adapter but this is not picked up by BI Viewer.2. Can I sort this variance column by the amount value?
I have created a cube view that I am having issues with some of the rows not totaling correctly. The cube view is designed to display an income statement. Some background on the cube view. It has 2 columns. 1 column has the member filter set as "T#|!ML_Year!|.TreeDescendantsR:U8#DerivedData:Name(|MFTimeDesc|)" so that each month and quarter can be displayed for the year chosen. The 2nd column displays the YTD amount for the year chosen and is written as "T#|!ML_Year!|:U8#None." The issue I am having is that I have 1-3 rows that are not adding correctly for each quarter. As an example, Month 1 has $500, Month 2 has $500, Month 3 has $500.00 and the total for Q1 is being displayed as $1,000 instead of $1,500. I am only experiencing this issue when I use a different scenario other than actual. I have run a consolidation on each scenario and still experiencing this issue. Does anyone have any suggestions?
There is a new column-store storage engine for reporting out of Onestream called "Analytic Blend". I have been examining the related documentation, and hoping to find an API that would allow this engine to return data for ad-hoc queries. We have custom processes that require CPM data from onestream. These processes would greatly benefit from the ability to retrieve query results from Analytic Blend. Is there any technical documentation that would help software developers to interact with that column-store data? I have the "BI Blend Design and Reference Guide" for XF 6.3.0, but no other resources beyond that. That document primarily describes how to prepare the Blend output database. But it doesn't describe how client applications might use the results. Can I assume this is because the because the database is standard Microsoft technology, (ie. that it only requires standard SQL knowledge/skills)? Can I assume that querying data from this Blend database would be fully suppo
Hello - I have a SQL data adapter that connects to an external database for data loads, dashboards, etc. Is it possible in the query to join these external tables to tables in the Application database? The server name in the error is the OneStream database server. Thanks,Bil
Has anyone experienced an extensible finance message stating "stream was too long" while using a quickview? I received the message after using UD4 as a column dimension and selecting more than 1 member. I set the maximum rows and columns to 50,000
We are trying to format the point label text in a chart for the dashboard. We are able to format the value with the syntax "{V:0,0}". We also want it to have the font color black. We have tried several options, but whatever we punt in format or back of the syntax it will print that text. In Excel you can format numbers like [Red]#,##0 and it will display the value in Red. In the OS chart the result will be [Red] 10 for example. Does Anyone know the syntax to use to be able to control the font color of the labels in a chart?
Hi, I changed all font family and font size settings to Arial and 10 in OS under Application Properties/Standard Reports. It looks like all cells that were “written” by OneStream came through as Arial 10, but the cells that were not edited are still Calibri 11. I even tried to change my Excel settings to Arial 10 to see if that would work after exporting and had no luck. Any idea? Thanks, Hadi

Hello All, I have two elements, let' say for example "KPI before 2020" and "KPI after 2020". I would like to create a cube view that's shows>>> only "KPI before 2020" when my POV time is <=2019M12>>> only "KPI after 2020" when my POV time is >=2020M01 Currently my cube view result looks like: My desired outcome: Any ideas how to create such cube view? Best regardsJarek
Is there a way to display the report header for a cube view in the Excel Add-in? I have the Report Header section of the cube view designer filled out in the application, but when adding a cube view connection in Excel, it does not display.
Hi, in the getting started with BI viewer I see they make use of a date field, which enables you to drill down to quarters/months etc. How do you create such a field (I guess I have to something with the time dimension which contains my years and months). I'm struggling with finding an expression that works...
I'm curious to know what others have seen during an external audit. We've been asked to provide change request or service request ticket evidence for any change made to our OneStream production app. This includes metadata, transformation rules, cube views, etc. We're being asked to provide ticket information in addition to screenshot evidence of what was done for any change of any object. Has anyone else seen the same?
I have a Stage Attribute of text type attached to my source records. As expected, this drops off when I push data from Stage to the Cube. When I run a query in the Excel Add-In and do a drill-down back to source at the base level intersections, I can see all dimensional values except the Stage Attribute #1. Is there any way to enable this? Thanks
Hi everyone, Quick question re Dashboards. When you use a parameter in a Cube View there is an option to display the Member Filter using a "Member Dialog" Parameter Type. This shows you the results in a hierarchy that can be expanded or collapsed. When building an interactive dashboard I need to present the user with a large number of members to select from. The Combo Box option isn't particularly easy to browse through as it simply lists the members (albeit this can be indented with a BR to imply the hierarchichal relationships). Is there a way of replicating the Member Dialog Parameter Type in a Dashboard component? Regards,Lee
