Application Build

We are moving an entity to another parent.  Prior periods have been locked.  Will this cause an issue with reporting as the entity will roll up under a different segment.  Trying to determine if we need to create another entity for reporting purposes.

Hi, I didn't see anything in the Install/Config guide or in the Onestream Community search, so I figured I'd just ask.Is there documentation regarding installing a self-hosted OneStream setup into a cloud environment?Particularly regarding the registration/addition of new server instances (consolidation,staging, web, etc) into the config files:-- Web Server Configuration file\Application Servers-- Application Server Configuration file\Server Sets Between server lifecycle events and lambdas calls, I'm sure something can be hacked together, but just thought I'd confirm what is/isn't available. For example,  when a user creates a journal and wants to attach some evidence.  Is it possible to stop them from uploading a 40 gb video file or something equally silly?  

Dear all, I'd like to know how do you define a particular text for an IC member. I thought that once you define a text for an entity having a IsIC = True will transfer that information automatically to the same member in the IC dimension but it seems that it doesn't work that way. Dear all, I'd like to know how you deal with this kind of case, because > and < symbols are special for .XML files. I have a case where the description uses a ">" or "<" symbols but they are not properly recognized once they have been loaded, instead they are loaded as ">" or "<". Do you know how to define them so the load would work properly?   Thank you.

Hello, I am looking to build an Input Parameter and additional rule (if necessary) in which the User will be prompted to input the beginning of an Entity (eg. A123) and the Cube View will return all Entities in the rows which start with A123. (eg. A123_400, A123_500, A123_600). Has anyone created something similar to this? Thank you!

Hi, I have an Application table containing a number of attribute columns, a currency column (EUR,USD,TRY...) and an Amount column. The client wants a twin table that has all rows from the table 1, but with all values converted to euros. I already have a dashboard that shows table 1 with a button to refresh its content (pulling data from other Application tables). What is the best way of refresh table 2? I was thinking of creating an extensible rule to update table 2 on demand, but I have noticed I cannot use the api.fxrates in there... Thank you

I ran an import which was stuck on parsing data, I clicked on Cancel Task, but it has been stuck on 'Cancelling By User' task status for over an hour.Any solutions to cancel the task? I am unable to rerun the task as it is still "running"

We have our main hierarchy that has intercompany eliminations working as they should. We also have 2 alternate hierarchies where one is eliminating as it should, and the other is not eliminating.  Consol -   Primary Hierarchy - Percent Consolidation 100Consol - Alternate hierarchy - Percent Consolidation 0  - Elimins not working at first common parent,Second Alt Hierarchy - Percent consol 100 - Eliminations working as they should.  

I am wondering where are the files in the Application Database Folder and System Database Folder physically stored? I am able to find the files under FileShare in the directory where OneStream is installed, but I cannot find the physical folder structure of the Application Database Folder and System Database Folder. Please advise. Thank you

Has anyone switched External Authentication from AzureSSO to OktaSSO?  How did that process go?  Was it seamless or were there user login issues? I'm trying to get ahead of this as my company is looking to convert all logins to OktaSSO.

Does anyone know whether it's possible to modify the Excel journal upload template to force upload to multiple individual periods from that one file?If it's possible, can anyone provide a brief how-to for setting something like this up?  The request is to be able to upload this to a forecast scenario so it's really outside the normal parameters of a typical journal.I know one easier alternative is to create an _ADJ member and just load the data to that but that's not the ask from the team.Would be grateful for any advice.  Thanks

Out of curiosity, are there any folks out there that have opted to have some "Generic" users/licenses versus specific named users in their environments? A couple of places where I think a generic would be relevant is when giving auditors view only access to the application. If there is a team of 3-4 auditors who need view only, would it not make sense to just create 1 generic user?On the flip side, what are big reasons people choose to go the named user route besides the obvious ones of audit trail for data loads and form completions and workflows?Just trying to get an idea of how popular generic users truly are when I personally have only seen the named user route. 

Hi, we received the following error message in OneStream on some of our scheduled data management tasks; these tasks load workflows by pulling data from an Azure system."Summary: Execution Timeout Expired.  The timeout period elapsed prior to completion of the operation or the server is not responding.Operation cancelled by user. (SQL Error Number -2146232060, -2, 0). The wait operation timed out"My understanding is that the this indicates that OneStream cancelled the operation (and failed the task) as Azure took too long to respond. How would I go about preventing this issue for the future? 

Hi, looking for experience and OS counterparts for support to automate ( plugging it directly in OneStream from source) FX Data Feed. Concern currency is USD.Which source are used - OANDA, Eurpean central bank or other sources? How does this work to get actual closing Rate, YTD Rate and for information purpose monthly average rate in the system?Actually we are loading every month from ECB into csv, working in excel - convert from Euro into USD for each currency, closing, YTD and average and than loading - set cells - into OneStream.Thank youAngelika 

HiWe have a requirement where users need access to all entities in the organisation but only for a specific set of accounts.Currently we have a simple security model where users are restricted by Entity. I was hoping that I could create a Cell Data Access Security rule that will give them access to entities outside of their group for the specific set of accounts, but it feels as though the Entity access overrules the Cell Data Access Security?To be clear I have Group A and Group B, restrictions  defined below.Group A :- Full access to all Group A Entities- Additional access to Group B Entities (for specific set of accounts) Group B :- Full access to all Group B Entities- Additional access to Group A Entities (for specific set of accounts) 1. Is it possible to grant access as I have described and am I just doing something wrong?2. If the approach I am taking isn't the correct one, what is the best way to implement this kind of logic? Thanks,Mark

I'm having trouble setting up local OneStream Server in my system.  

Hi Experts, We are working on create a button in Excel for end users to trigger DM job or Consolidation. Idea here is to have more than one consolidation with different POVs and don't want to rely on the users to get the POVs/data units selected. We would like to do this with a DM job with a passing parameter or through a direct call defining the POV. Per OneStream Support Team, this is a custom solution and can be done using REST API. We are currently on version 7.4.2 and recommendation is to upgrade to V8. Wanted to check in the forum if anyone has implemented this solution and share your thoughts. Thank you in advance and appreciate your assistance on this. P.S. We don't want to use the built-in consolidation feature that comes with Excel Add-in.
