Application Build

Hosted by Azure/Managed by OS, so never spent anytime learning how to monitor our environment other than at the very high level (System-Environment-Refresh). Hoping someone can point me in the right direction.  Really looking to see how long Excel queries take, steps within consolidations and just general overhead.  I seem to remember something provided within Azure to monitor but not sure if that is still around or not.  We are heavy for 8 days and adding more functionality so need to make sure we can still run acceptable during that time.

I would like to use the Cloud Administration Tools > Manage Applications to copy our Production application to Development (refresh Development).  I have reviewed the documentation and OneStream Academy video for how to do this but have a few questions. 1) Does it copy all the data in addition to the artifacts and metadata? 2) I see an option to have it reset IIS when completed but do you know if it stops IIS in both apps before doing the copy?  If not then do I just need to make sure I do not initiate the Copy when users may be in the applications? Thank you Denise

SOURCE: ONESTREAM CHAMPIONS We have two security groups we use to manage journals, one with access to Post journals and one to Create journals (and Submit them). We’re seeing issues where the person with the access to post journals isn’t able to post auto-reversing journal types. They can post standard journal type fine though. Has anyone come across this before or have any insight? For the Workflow Profile, it seems to be the Journal Process Group security driving this, but we don’t want people who post to be able to create journals as well.

Hi everyone,  When we run a confirmation step, we have a DB to show all confirmation passed or failed  and when it failed we have Information 1, 2, 3, but with this DB we can only see confirmation rule by confirmation rule. This point is very inconvenient if you have more than 10 entities in your WF I have a another DB to show all confirmation rule by entity, this is very helpful for the user but I would like to add Information 1,2,3 from table 1 to the table 2 (as image)  Do you have any idea with which table I can take these column ? maybe I can joint 2 tables of sql and create a new one with all information  Table 1: I dont know where I can find it Table 2: this table is native in Onestream    Thank you for your help  Have a nice weekend 🙂 Hoa PHAN

Would you be able to share how you accomplish this?Currently we manually reallocate data that comes into our income statement accounts under one UD2 to two UD2s based on the percentage split of units (which is a stat account in OS). This is loaded as a balanced journal entry every month but I’m wondering if there’s a more efficient, less manual way to accomplish it.I tried reviewing OS academy, the design doc and golfstream and can’t find a good example of an allocation being run. Would any of you have a suggestion? For a simple allocation like this, would you recommend a CV form to allocate or would the Allocation journal entry type work better? Or maybe it’s a formula on the UD2 member itself that triggers the allocation?I’ve also submitted a support ticket but was thinking that maybe some customer experience would be useful too.

This seems like an extremely simple question ... I'm barely just learning OneStream, and I must be overlooking something obvious.I copied our production application to an application named Debug so I can try to investigate a problem without affecting our production app. But after I log off of the application and try to log on into the newly created application,  what steps are needed to add the new application to the pulldown list of applications? When I review the Task Activity report, I can confirm that the task to create a new application named Debug completed, and there are no errors associated with that task. And if I open the page for History Detail, the line shows that I successfully created the new application named Debug.I've completely quit OneStream (I'm running the Windows version of the app) and re-run it to try to refresh the pulldown list. If I log back on to the Production instance, I can return to the cloud administration tools and select the option to Manage Appli

We are preparing for our UAT period and user access controls will be a part of the testing.  I can see in the User Security reports that we have 2 native users.  When click on Native Users to pull up the list, there is only one name listed.  Why is there only 1 name listed?  Also, I am looking for a description of what a Native User is - Design guide really does not explain it in a manner that I can provide that to the auditors and not get more questions back.  I believe that the Installation guide may have some additional information but I cannot search that document online and it is not available for download (PDF file is not offered in the search result).  System and Configuration as well as Academy has nothing on this topic.  Thanks!

I've seen the 'Reset IIS' option as part of the Copy App process,  and now again in the instructions for applying a new license key,  but I have some questions: 1 - What does Reset IIS actually do? 2- What impact does selecting this have on our applications and users? 3 - How do I manually Reset IIS, so I can complete the Apply License Key instructions? Thanks.

Hi All,  I'm trying to understand whether there is any way that within People Planning, a user would be able to initiate a transfer and the receiving entity would have the ability to accept or deny this transfer through an approval process.  As an example, If I am transferring 3 employees from the insurance team to the finance team, would a member of the finance team be able to deny this change?   Appreciate any insight you all may have on this. Thank you!

I have an user who is not an administrator but has manage cube view security role so he can create and manage cube views.  However, he is also able to access cube view groups that are assigned to administrator only.  Is there a way to restrict this user accessing these administrator-only cube view groups?  Thanks!

Hi Team,We would like to understand how to  copy data from some specific tables fromappsuite(appsuite-prd.onestreamcloud.com) to appsuite_dev(appsuite-dev.onestreamcloud.com)for some specific tables.

Hi is there a way i can load a on premise file to onestream file explorer automated.

Hi, Ever since some of your users shifted to windows 11, they cannot access OneStream web-based platform any more, because Internet Explorer is not compatible with Windows 11. So, they cannot downloaded the windows OS app any longer. Have you guys already experienced this? How did you overcome this obstable? Thanks a lot for your support. Best,Chris

Hi,Can anyone explain why External connection is not working in SQL Table Editor ? The same connection is working for Data Adapter.Screenshot for Data Adapter and it’s working. Screenshot for SQL Table Editor and it’s not working.  I tried giving the schema name as well but no luck. We are on version 6.4.ThanksSri

Hello,I am looking to see how other OneStream clients have designed their labor reporting. Do you use specific accounts, do you have a specific dimension, etc?

Hello,I am wondering if anyone has eliminated a dimension and what that scope of work looked like for you. We have a Labor dimension we want to eliminate and instead we will create new accounts in our Account dimension. Looking for insight from anyone who has taken this on before. Thanks!Regards,Ronnie Karpinski

Hi Can anyone suggest , how can we automate loading of metadata into onestream from a flat file /table. What is the format of the file. I am aware of loading using xml from utilizing the metadata excel builder utility , but my client wants to automate metadata update in Onestream. I am not finding much documentation around that. How is this achieved ?

SOURCE: ONESTREAM CHAMPIONS Hi Everyone, Curious to hear others’ experience in the area of Security. At BDO, we currently have: 5k users configured, of which 4.5k are enabled. 3.6k are in our “basic” level security group, which we have automation to create and assign users to this group when they meet certain criteria. We have seen in our first year live about 50% of our enabled users utilizing our Production App at some point during the year. Primarily focus on Data Level Access (Cube Slice Security) to control access, which 1 of our 3 cubes has 137 slices configured in it, which is the most granular of our 3 cubes. For groups we are currently at 312, of which 150 have users directly assigned and the others are for nesting shared access across groups. For security, we do very little control by Entity or Workflows since most access to data is controlled in Cube Slices based on our U2 (Location) and U3 (Department), and outside of our automated loads, few users load data via workflows.

hi for our consolidation application we need legal entity structure with company codes  as the entity dimension.  The data also comes with a profit center and we would like to see profit center as a UD dimension and report on it. However for planning purpose , all data is loaded by profit center , it is the primary hierarchy for wokflow etc. can we have the same hierarchy in both UD dimension as well as Entity and use it in different cubes in different dimension.

Is there a way to allow different entity security for different processes in OneStream - particularly when implementing a Marketplace solution which is in a separate distinct cube, with separate distinct scenarios.  For example, the user may have RW access in Finance cube to entities 1,2, and 3, and needs RW access in the Tax cube to entities 4, 5, and 6.  How can I prevent them from having RW in both cubes to 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, and 6?  I expect similar need may exist between actual and forecast scenarios in the Finance cube...

Scenario property, Calculation Type: calculate > Execute Scenario Hybrid Source Data Copy > TRUE - does this really improves OS system performance? Can anyone give me an example of where  using this really HELP.  I can do the same job with Planning rules and Cube View reports.

I'm having trouble setting up OneStream on my local standalone machineError starting application server 'localhost' Please contact the System Administrator to resolve the issue and restart the server.Application Server Configuration Folder: 'C:\Program Files\OneStream Software\OneStreamAppRoot\OneStreamApp\App_Data'.

Dear community, I have a very simple use case with my base entity set in "finance entities" top level cube, and the group entity set in the "finance group" cube. Everything in the "finance entities" cube works fine and as expected. However, no data roll out to the top level cube, even though I have tries to consolidate, force consolidate ... The 'Cube Refence' has been set so that the dimension for local entities is coming from the "finance entities" cube. When using a cube view on the Top level cube for base-level entity and group-level entity, I can only see that the cells related to group-level entity are all in red. --> What am I missing so that data from base level entity can roll-out to parent entity in the top level cube ? Top Level cube references :Top level cube entity dimension :Reference cube entity dimension :Local Entity dimension:Group entity dimension :Many thanks,

Hi all, Who utilizes Annotation or the other similar view members for writing text into OS? If so, do you give write access to parent entities? We’re looking to use VarianceExplanation to capture threshold explanations but we review and explain this data at a parent level and currently our entity parents all have a write access group of Nobody. I’m looking to narrow down when write access would be given at a parent entity level so I can judge what we’re opening ourselves up to if we decide to change security.Any insights are appreciated! Thanks,Nicole

Hello! What is your process for closing entities? Do you rename them or mark “Is consolidated” as false or do something else to discontinue them? We’re working through creating an official process for closed entities so I was wondering how other folks deal with clearing out RE or other account calcs or otherwise officially close entities. Appreciate any input! Thanks!
