Hi Community, For us the biggest lack of the Onestream product is the ability to point to two different applications in the Excel formulas. We are a customer since around 2016 (live 2018) and we have raised this on may occasions and in many forums. It has been hurting us all along when testing developments on test vs. production - to see either that it did not impact the numbers or it had the impact we desired. We have been coping with comparing reports etc. Now we are in the middle of the first rebuild after going live - and the amount of datapoints, levels that we need to check is massive - while we still wait for this most obvious long term deficit, in an otherwise very good product, to be fixed, we turn to you guys. Can any one share their approaches to compare the data between applications in the development process in generally. Kind regards Per
I want to create a new application in our production environment, but I only want certain people to have access to the application. How do I add security on the application? Thanks, Winni
Happy upcoming Father's day everyone!! I just submitted the following enhancement request to OneStream developers. Does it make sense to you. Let me explain the context:Before I select a Workflow I have to select a Cube. Why is that required? Why can’t users organize Workflow under some other criteria of their choice - maybe a folder of Workflows based on Finance Dept's functions? From my experience, a workflow can be designed to update and pull data from multiple cubes; so why is it associated with only one “Cube”? That confuses me.Here is the enhancement request:Under OnePlace - give us a Workflow-Explorer that allows us to organize by creating sub-folders of Workflows.Create a default folder with Consolidation, LRP, Planning, Forecast as sub-folders.May Oracle stock crash - like Bitcoin and the rest of stock market!!
Is there a way to change the Cube name after data has been loaded to it? thanks,Greg
Hello, has anyone seen an error like this before? I'm loading information from our PreProd to Prod environment and am getting the following error: "Summary: Error processing XML file type 'TransformationRules' XML: Line 379, position 22, element transformationRule. Rule already exists in this Rule Group, [Aggregate amount of institution's - 1- largest loan commitments]." From what I can tell there isn't anything particularly special about this line of code, it's just the line showing the given rule. And if it already exists, shouldn't it be overwritten through the load process? Any help in this matter would be greatly appreciated.
Hi, Is it possible to define restrictions for input in a cube view between two UDs dimensions ? In order to "guide" the user in their input, I would like to define a restriction between UD4 and UD5, so that only specific UD5 elements (in columns) could be editable based on the UD4 (in rows). I don't see any restrictions on UDs elements in the datamodel, so what would be the best way to achieve this ? Regards,
Hi all, I have built out my cube view that shows headcount change for 2019 M12, I want to be able to capture the ‘Ending Balance Headcount’ for 2020 M1 as its ‘Begin Balance’. Will a rule be the way to go in order to achieve this? Unsure on where to go from here. Thank you.
Hi Team, Is there any option to delete user groups in RCM under the Account Reconciliation Market place solution using a template? We have close to 3000+ obsolete user groups which need to be deleted.
How do you prevent users from accidentally loading data via QV submission to a non-forecast scenario ie; Actuals. The CV is set up to point at the WF scenario so if a user doesn't change their WF POV it will submit the data to the incorrect scenario.
Is there any way to get a complete listing of active users and disabled users
Hello All, I have one specific query about data Management Tasks as below: If I want to allow a user to be able to edit parameters of only one of of the DM Group and not to allow edit anything else - Question is >> which 'Security roles' need to be looked at? I can see only way to allow editing is to allow Security role 'ManageData' BUT this allows everything and all DM tasks and even user can setup a new DM group - which is really risky and can not be allowed. Kindly help with your comments if I am missing something here. Our current status is, we can not allow users to edit the DM tasks and we keep on making parameter changes for business users, which is really a big pain. You guidance here would be really very helpful. Thanks Satish
We like to have a "Prod Yesterday" version in Test that has data from the overnight backup of production. This helps when working with data issues and testing where one wants to have up to date data. The major stumbling block to automating this is the need to automate the Rename Application functionality in OneStream Database Configuration manager. Has anyone found a solution for this? Or, for the more general solution of automating a daily restore of production to a lower environment for on premises OneStream? Overall process: MS SQL job restores the MS SQL DB to the lower environment We run the One Stream Database Configuration Tool , select the database, right-click and select "Rename Application" Restart the IIS servers Import (IE "Load") XML files to apply Test environment config

Originally posted by James Kirkby I have a question. I'd like to give a select couple of users from a systems admin team access to specific data management jobs that export OS data for CSV purposes so they can cross-validate between systems. I've set up and assigned a role granting them access to the data management admin page; then set the security for maintenance group on all jobs to admin so they couldn't edit any jobs. I wanted to add their jobs to a profile so they could find them easier for organization purposes, but couldn't really tell what the point of the profiles was? When I assign a group to a profile and click on that profile or group, it seems to just let me edit security settings and that's it. I can't run any of the jobs from a profile. Am I missing something? The admin guide is vague here. Thanks!

Hello, has anyone seen an error like this before? I'm loading information from our PreProd to Prod environment and am getting the following error: "Summary: Error processing XML file type 'DataSources'. There is an unclosed literal string. Line 11771, position 4968693." From what I can tell there isn't anything particularly special about this line of code. It also appears that the remainder of the datasource file was loaded even though this error was received. Any help in this matter would be appreciated.
Hi I am trying to extract a dashboards from an application and load into another application, would any one be able to share the XML template that is used for Project Extract & Load? or would appreciate any other helpful suggestions and guidance. thanks - Kumar
Scenario: I have a Sql Editor component, with a couple of date-columns. If the value in the belonging custom-table is value NULL, then the value in the editor will always be the minimum value of the sql datetime type. I just want to show a blank value instead of "1/1/1900". Anybody solved this? Cheers Frank
Hi experts. I have a query with regards to drill-down feature to locate the journals from 'AdjConsolidated' member. The entity hierarchy of the client has multiple levels and they post journals at each of this level (i.e at parents as well as base entities). When we drill down by origin from a top member and want to further analyze the balances under 'AdjConsolidated' member, we understand that drilling to entities won't give the desired results as the jnls were posted against Adjinput members. Hence, they have to start the drill down by entities from Origin 'Adjustments' Member and keep checking for each sub-structure below it to see if the jnl comes from an Adjinput / Adjconsolidated member. Is there a better way to directly drill down to the actual jnls that were posted. Regards, SC
Hello, I have a question about multiple applications. I know typically people think of OneStream as having everything within one application seperated by cubes. Thinking of an application where Planning activities are quite different than existing consolidation activities and I am a bit weary of trying to jam it all into the existing Consolidation application. I am wondering if it would be easier to organize in a seperate application altogether so there would be a planning application and a consolidation application and the planning data would eventually be loaded into the Consolidation Application after it's approved. There are a number of reasons that lead me to entertain this idea one of which is performance and that we may only ever want to 'Aggregate/C#Aggregated' the data in Planning and 'Consolidate/C#Local' the data in the Consolidation application and we don't want it to get confusing with what data to use for the users. Other reasons relat
Has anyone used Git or another version control / source control system with OneStream? Currently, we keep a lot of commented out code in our OneStream system. It would be a lot nicer to be able to only have to keep the latest in production, and have a version control system track the changes. By default ( not that I know how to change it) the OneStream app does only 1 XML document per type, so the changes aren't tracked at the individual object level, and you'll get a lot of changes to search through. Has anyone made it work, or are you aware of a best practices document or other doc for this?
Is it possible to use the where clause for the member expansion ".Tree", specifically filtering on the AccountDim. There is a top-level reporting cube and a few merged cubes sitting beneath (using entity extensibility). There are also a number of extensible Account Dimensions utilized... i.e., Level 1 (Highest - Forecast Accounts) Level 2 (Consolidated Accounts) Level 3 - #1 (Lowest - linked to lower-level reporting subsidiary cubes using base GL Accounts - the account dimension names for these cubes always include 'Base') Level 3 - #2 (base GL Accounts) Level 3 - #3 (base GL Accounts) &

Hi everyone, Is it possible to set a search/filter option in the combo box where user can type in the value and it will be picked up from the underlying list? Alternatively, another component that can do it? I have tried using the tree view with search and filter option but it does not display anything if I use member list as bound parameter. Any other parameter type should be used specifically for tree view to work?
I have five cube views attached within a dashboard that utilizes the tabular layout. The content dashboard where the cube views sit is redrawn when a combo box is changed. However, the dashboard always redirects to the first tab. Only the content dashboard is set to redraw when the combo box is modified, and embedded dashboards are utilized to build up to the main dashboard. The goal is to change the combo box without redirecting the dashboard to the first tabbed report. Has anyone else seen this behavior and has a solution to redraw the dashboard with the new combo box selection while maintaining the current tabbed report displayed?
