Remove a user's ability to input data within a workflow where they have access to Workflow Execution Group?

Remove a user's ability to input data within a workflow where they have access to Workflow Execution Group? They require access to the workflow for Certification purposes only but must be part of the Workflow Execution Group to actually execute that Certification step
